More from Laos…
After passing a few days with my dear friend Ruby in beautiful Luang Prabang, a city made up of a handful of quaint streets tucked in between two calm rivers and kept active with hustling tuk tuks by day and a bustling market by night, I made my way to Chiang Mai, Thailand, where I saw incredible Muy Thai boxing. Jaw dropping knock outs ensued one after another over the drowning drone of a pitchy Thai flute typically used at such barbaric fights. I then took a very windy bus ride to a quaint little place called Pai in the mountains of Thailand where I met up with a grand bunch of travelers and had a fine time doing not much. We visited neat waterfalls, exercised worn threads of hammocks and enjoyed a few 6$ Thai massages. Now, I am soaking up this last week and a half of my trip in Bali, Indonesia, where I have been surfing and traveling with an author from London who likes to keep his homesick pub liver quenched with weak Balinese beer while he polishes off a book on a laptop that threatens to fail him day in and day out.
Until soon everyone – my final days of traveling are narrowing towards an Air Canada ticket counter which will be my gateway home.   cw
